Registered Nurse (Accident & Emergency)

The Emergency Department Nurse provides advanced clinical care within the Emergency Department; supporting the functioning of the unit through the application of best practice, education, team work and a patient and family centered model of care.
Requirements Requirements – Licensing & Education:
During February 2016, Mediclinic International combined with Al Noor Hospitals Group, with operations mainly in Abu Dhabi, to create an enlarged Mediclinic group now boasting 73 hospitals and 43 clinics. Mediclinic Middle East operates five hospitals and 38 clinics with more than 600 inpatient beds in the United Arab Emirates.
Requirements Requirements – Licensing & Education:
- Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Nursing (minimum of 3 years duration) from a recognised Nursing Institute.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (in home country and in current country of residence)
- Basic Life Support Certified
- ACLS Certified
- PALS Certified
- NRP Certified
- Emergency Care Course (Preferred)
- Midwifery (Preferred)
- Minimum of three years Emergency Department experience after graduation.
- Experience in Triaging systems in Emergency Departments
- Ability to deliver advanced nursing care in complex emergency situations to all patients.
- Ability to observe, monitor, assess, report and document all patients’ treatment and response to treatment.
- Monitor and adjust specialized medical equipment used in the care and treatment of patients in the department.
- Ability to provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families whilst caring for the patient.
- Knowledge of all the physiological systems of the body.
- Ability to work independently within a team framework.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Able to work within the appropriate scope of practice as dictated by the licensing body.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality patient care
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement for better health outcomes
- Fluency in written and spoken English (Arabic language skills are well regarded)
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated competence in working autonomously as required
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Good computer literacy
- Ability to function effectively under pressure
- Ability to promote excellence in patient care through mentoring and quality management
- Work collaboratively with patients, families and members of the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes, whilst maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure coordinated continuum of care for the patients, incorporating the patient and their family in decision making.
- Effectively advocate for the patient and escalate any problems or changes in the patient condition.
- Participate in evidence based practice and continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure compliance with documentation requirements, as set out in Hospital Policies.
- Perform accurate Triaging of patients as per Triage policy and procedure.
- Provide nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Assist the medical team with the assessment of the emergency patient and any procedures that need to be undertaken.
- Maintain a good rapport with patients and their families. Answer, or direct, their questions to the correct person.
- Administer medications as directed
- Continuously monitor the acutely ill patient and appropriately escalate any problems that arise.
- Participate in the promotion and sharing of skills and education amongst peers.
- Educate patients and family regarding procedures, follow-up processes or admission processes.
- Maintain and care for all equipment
