Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing services that promote, improve and manage health care across CCAD. This position is also responsible for serving as a support and clinical expert for the clinical nursing practice and/or in the management of the care of individuals and groups with chronic health problems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates in the management of care for individuals and groups with complex health problems

 Ensures quality health care and coordinates care to positively influence patients’ outcomes

 Analyzes cost and quality factors related to patient outcomes

 Helps integrate the nursing practice with medical diagnosis and the treatment of disease, injury and disability

Serves as a consultant and/or liaison to all health care professionals within CCAD and the community to influence and advance clinical practice

Identifies educational needs across a continuum of patient care to facilitate the development of programs and materials for patients, families and health care team members

Conducts research in nursing and evaluates findings that impact clinical practice

Communicates research findings to other health care professionals through formal and informal presentations

Plans, implements and evaluates department orientation and educational activities for staff

Manages and develops unit based educational programs

Utilizes a variety of resources to resolve problems confronted in relation to various circumstances, including new technology, research protocols, changing patient population and new pharmacology

Skills

Experience Requirement

Minimum of four (4) years post graduate experience in appropriate and relevant health care setting is required

Ability to identify and use appropriate concepts and principles from behavioral and biological sciences

Strong program development, research and analytical skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to speak and write in English is required

Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required plus successful completion of a post graduate or post basic specialist training program of at least six (6) months duration

Master’s degree in Nursing is required

Valid and current national license is required

BLS is required

ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty is preferred

Nurse Practitioner

THIS IS NOT A STAFF NURSE OR RN POSITION. YOU MUST MEET THE HAAD PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR A NURSE PRACTITIONER.

Certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or

medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according

to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. Practice emphasizes health promotion,

disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems.

Multiple positions will be available in the following specialties: Hospitalist, MICU & CICU, Cardiology, Psychiatry, Allergy, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Pain Management, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Hematology, Urology, ENT, Pulmonlogy and Neurology.

Skills

Responsibilities

Assess health status by obtaining relevant health and medical history. Performs a physical exam based

upon the age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.

Identifies significant health and medical risk factors.Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory test and

other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Develops a

diagnosis by analyzing and synthesizing collected data.In collaboration with the physician, develops a

treatment plan along with the patient and significant others. Performs diagnostic or therapeutic

interventions consistent with certification, law and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi privileges. Develops patient education plan. Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care. May perform admission history & physical, document progress notes, prepare discharge summaries as required. Assists with and facilitates discharge planning. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Fulfill the requirements of Registered Nurse and completion of a Clinical Master/ Doctoral degree in nursing in:

o Pharmacology for prescribing drugs as a nurse practitioner

o Differential diagnosis, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests (radiological and pathological tests)

o Advanced Health Assessment

Two (2) years’ experience post qualification as a Nurse Practitioner.

OR

Fulfill the requirements of Registered Nurse and National Certification or license as a Nurse Practitioner.

Two (2) years’ experience post qualification as a Nurse Practitioner.
